Indian Affairs rendered a decision Monday that will allow the Keetoowah Casino to stay open for business.
The fight over whether the Tahlequah casino was operating legally has been going on for years.
The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians faced a July 30 deadline to get the land, on which the casino sits, put into trust with the Department of the Interior, or close the casino and cease gaming operations.
They submitted an application to put the land into trust in August 2011.
It came down to the wire, but the Department of the Interior finally approved the UKB's application Monday.
