Some Green Country teachers are heading back to school early, but they're not hitting the books.
The U.S. Naval Academy is training them to build underwater robots.
The teachers will then train hundreds of Tulsa students to build the robots. Thirty thousand students across the nation have participated in this program, but this is its first time in Oklahoma.
"It stokes the fires of kids' curiosity, if they can see there's some possible reason for those buoyancy physics problems, and this is one," said Xan Black, Tulsa Alliance for Engineering.
"If their Seapearch's life depends on getting the right calculation then it matters all of a sudden."
The students will use their robots to compete against each other in battle, in January.
