MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma --Former Carl Albert standout J.T. Realmuto has signed a contract with the Florida Marlins Tuesday. By signing a contract with the Marlins, Realmuto opted to forgo playing for Oklahoma State.
The Titans’ former three-sport star was selected 104th overall in the third round of 2010 MLB Draft in June. Realmuto signed for a reported $700,000 and will head to Jupiter, Florida Thursday to play for the Marlins’ rookie league team.
Realmuto played shortstop for Carl Albert, but will begin his professional career as a catcher.
