VERDIGRIS, Oklahoma -- A wreck caused by a suspected drunk driver killed two people, including a baby boy, Friday morning.
It happened on Highway 66 and Gordon Road in Verdigris, in Rogers County.
Deputy Chief Tony Williams is one of the firefighters who responded to the tragic wreck.
"One of the worst ones, yeah," he said. "This kind of a wreck is difficult for all of us."
Investigators say Keaton Hannah, 18, of Verdigris, was first involved in a minor accident, but tried to leave the scene.
"Witnesses say then that truck turned around going the wrong way, that would be northbound in the southbound lanes of 66," Andy Floyd, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, said.
Hannah's truck hit an SUV head on, with a Claremore family. The crashed killed a man and a baby boy instantly and sent a woman to the hospital.
"I estimate the impact at probably about 50 miles per hour," Floyd said. "It hit on the passenger side, and the driver's side of that vehicle just ripped the whole side of it off."
"Five o'clock in the morning, it just doesn't seem right," Williams said.
Hannah was arrested by Verdigris Police and booked into the Rogers County jail on two complaints of 2nd degree murder and one complaint of DUI. He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
The Verdigris Police Department isn't releasing the names of the victims until family members are notified.
"Go home and hug the kids, all of those around you," Williams said.
