STILLWATER, Oklahoma—Oklahoma State University has announced that former softball pitcher Michele Smith and four other alumni will be inducted to the 2011 OSU Alumni Hall of Fame.

Smith graduated from OSU in 1990 with her bachelor’s degree in health and wellness. She is the owner of Michele Smith Fastpitch Inc. in St. Petersburg, Florida and also does marketing for Musco Lighting.

While a member of the Cowgirl softball team she set eight OSU records including career victories, career games started and career appearances.

Smith was also honored as a three-time All-Big Eight selection, two-time All-Big Eight Academic selection and a two-time All-American in 1988 and 1989.
After college Smith excelled in professional softball and helped the USA softball team to two Olympic gold medals.

Earlier this year Smith was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
The inductees will be recognized in a special ceremony scheduled for Feb. 18, 2011 at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center in Stillwater.

Induction into the OSU Alumni Hall recognizes alumni and former students with outstanding lifetime achievements in society and professional life and is the highest honor given by the OSU Alumni Association.
