SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -- No one was injured when a westbound Burlington North Santa Fe train struck a car just west of Sand Springs on state Highway 51.
The collision occurred at a crossing at 154th West Avenue Monday morning.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver of the Ford Mustang was trying to beat the train to the crossing and got stuck on the tracks.
The car's occupants got out before it was struck by the train's engine.
The trooper told News On 6 he gave the driver a ticket.
