TULSA, Oklahoma -- There was another sport with a big event in downtown Tulsa this weekend besides NCAA basketball. The Drillers baseball team had a lot of action at ONEOK Field today.

Tickets are selling, employees are happy and hot dogs are coated in color. ONEOK Field is bustling with action, but the season hasn't started yet.

"Drillers Fest every year we have it. It's a huge event, open house, free to everybody," said Drillers Marketing Director Rob Gardenhire.

The giant open house ushers in the season. Fans can grab some stadium food, hug on Hornsby, have their own game of catch and throw and visit in the stands.

"It's a great opportunity to pick up our tickets obviously for Bedlam baseball, also for the Drillers season tickets. So it's a great chance for the kids to enjoy the park and just have a good time," said Drillers fan Kevin Burr.

Tours filled up each hour, giving fans a behind the scenes look at the suites, the bar and grill and ground level on the field.

It's a small taste of what you can see in the 70 home games this season.

"Our premiere dates this year are the Rockies game coming up on March 30th, our parent club being back in town is huge and a lot of people are wanting tickets for that. Also the Bedlam game and just opening night," Gardenhire said.

The Burr family checks out DrillersFest every year.

"We love the games. I'm a baseball coach myself, so we eat, drink and live baseball and it's just a family thing we do every year," Burr said.

From the tallest fan to the smallest, Green Country is counting down to that first game.
