TULSA, Oklahoma -- A pickup truck driver trying to avoid a deer in the roadway was struck by a semi truck on the Creek Turnpike early Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred just before 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the County Line Road exit.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the pickup truck swerved and was struck in the right rear by the semi truck.
The impact sent the pickup into the inside guardrail.
The pickup truck driver was taken to a Broken Arrow hospital to be checked out.
The semi truck driver was not injured.
Troopers say two dead deer were found on either side of the roadway. They are not sure which vehicle hit the deer.
