OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- University of Oklahoma President David Boren is announcing the largest one-time gift in the history of the school's Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

Boren said Thursday that Peggy and Charles Stephenson of Tulsa are donating $12 million for a new cancer center.

Specifically, $5.5 million will go toward completing construction of a cancer facility at the Health Sciences Center; $6 million will fund two endowed teaching positions and $500,000 will go toward a healing garden that will be located outside the center.

Boren is going to ask the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents to name the building The Peggy and Charles Stephenson Oklahoma Cancer Center.

The Stephensons pledged $15 million toward the construction of a new Life Sciences Research Center at OU in 2007.
