Investigation Into Coffeyville, Kansas Plant Explosion Continues

COFFEYVILLE, KANSAS -- A fertilizer plant in Coffeyville, Kansas was evacuated after an explosion Thursday evening.

The News On 6 has learned an anhydrous ammonia tank ruptured at CVR Energy on the east side of Coffeyville around 7 p.m.

Workers originally were evacuated the plant, but the company let everyone back in about an hour later.

The Coffeyville Fire Department said no one was hurt in the explosion.

They also said no fire crews were called to the scene and the plant itself handled the clean-up.

Officials say CVR Energy is conducting an investigation into the cause of the explosion.
