OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Senate has voted 44-0 to authorize creation of a state license plate using the national motto: "In God We Trust."
A similar bill was passed by the state Senate a year ago but did not win final legislative approval.
Sen. Jay Paul Gumm, a Durant Democrat, said Tuesday bill also creates a special license plate for campus police officers and for supporters of the National Weather Center in Norman and the "Folds of Honor" organization.
The bill, which now goes to the state House for consideration, deletes the Northern Cherokee Nation of the old Louisiana Territory license plate.
It was amended to include a new Operation Iraqi Freedom license plate.
