Former State Auditor Gets Eight Years

Former state Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan has been sentenced to eight years and one month in prison.

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- Former state Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan has been sentenced to eight years and one month in prison.

His wife, Lori was sentenced to six years and six months.

Federal Judge James Payne sentenced the two Monday morning in federal court in Muskogee where they were convicted last year of conspiracy and bribery.

Prosecutors say McMahan showed favoritism to southeast Oklahoma businessman Steve Phipps in exchange for cash, campaign contributions, fishing trips, trips to New Orleans and Boston and jewelry.
