The Lady Eagles, Red Oak High School's fastpitch team, hosted a benefit softball game to honor breast cancer survivors and create awareness for breast cancer research. The game was held at the Red Oak Lady Eagles Softball field on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 4:30 p.m.
The gate proceeds, private donations, donations per run scored and T-shirt profit sales went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which was a total of $1,800.
"It was a "Pinkout Softball Game" with with the players wearing pink jerseys and socks," said Angela Evans, a teacher at the southeast Oklahoma high school. "The crowd wore pink t-shirts and the umpires wore a pink ribbon on their sleeve." Even the opposing team got in on the effort to raise funds and awareness for the battle against breast cancer by wearing pink "Hope" bracelets.
