MEXICO CITY (AP) _ A tropical depression formed off Mexico's Pacific coast Wednesday, but it was not expected to develop into a hurricane, the National Hurricane Center in Miami reported.

The depression, with winds of about 35 mph, was centered about 245 miles south of Baja California and was moving west, farther into the Pacific. It was expected to briefly reach tropical storm strength, with sustained winds of at least 39 mph, before weakening again, the center said.
