GRAND BLANC, Mich. (AP) _ Edmond resident and former Oklahoma State golfer Scott Verplank is just two shots off the lead going into Friday's second round of the Buick Open.

Verplank shot 6-under, 66, Thursday to trail first round leader Rocco Mediate. Three players are at 7-under.

Former Cowboy Charles Howell the third is at 3-under and former Cowboys Bob Tway and Pablo Martin are 2-under while former Oklahoma golfer Glen Day is 1-under.

Former Sooner Todd Hamilton is at 2- over and Bo Van Pelt of OSU is 3- over.
