(Stillwater-AP) -- Midwest City High School standout Brent Weaver has signed with Oklahoma State to play baseball next year.

Weaver went 8-and-4 on the mound last season. Weaver boasted a 1.84 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 80.1 innings pitched.

Weaver also fared well at the plate. As a senior he had a 402 batting average with eight homers.

Weaver was a first-team All-State selection for the Bombers who advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 1998.

The righthander was selected in the 38th round of June's amateur baseball draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.

First-year coach Frank Anderson says he expects Weaver to challenge for time on the mound as a freshman.
