(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A former Herington, Kansas, police chief is testifying today in a hearing for Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols.

Nichols' attorneys are asking a judge to suppress statements Nichols made to the F-B-I two days after the bombing.

Former Police Chief Dale Kuhn (KYOON) says Nichols went to the police department, asking why his name was being mentioned as part of the bombing investigation.

Kuhn says F-B-I agents soon arrived and took a lengthy statement from Nichols.

Agents have testified Nichols admitted knowing bomber Timothy McVeigh, and had discussed the bomb-making process with McVeigh.

Nichols faces 161 state counts of first-degree murder for his role in the bombing.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
