SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- An Oklahoma man was indicted Tuesday in Massachusetts on federal charges of being a felon and fugitive from justice in possession of a firearm.

Anthony Wayne Mason, 58, of Dewey, Okla., was arrested in Pittsfield in November 2002 and convicted on state ammunition charges, prosecutors said.

He was turned over to federal custody on his release May 5. Federal prosecutors accused Mason of being in possession of a .300 caliber Browning rifle on Nov. 7.

Mason had previously been convicted in Oklahoma of a felony charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Last year, prosecutors in Oklahoma charged him again, this time with narcotics violations. He fled while on bail, and those charges are pending.

If convicted on the federal charges, Mason faces up to 10 years behind bars.
