(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma sophomore Blake Johnston is leaving the Sooner basketball team for medical reasons.

Johnston joined the OU program in 2000-2001 from Midland, Texas.

Johnston says a combination of medical issues led him to decide to stop playing basketball.

Johnston is due to graduate in May 2004 with a degree in public relations.
