STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma State assistant coach Jimmy Williams is leaving to become an assistant for the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves after one season.

Williams, 52, replaces Sidney Lowe, who left to become head coach at Vancouver.

Williams and the Timberwolves' Flip Saunders coached together at Minnesota in the 1970s and 1980s. Williams also has been an assistant at Tulsa, Nebraska and San Diego State.

Assistant coach Sean Sutton said Oklahoma State hopes to narrow a list of candidates for the Cowboy vacancy to three or four and have a successor by the first of August.
