POTEAU, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma Sen. Don Nickles will be this year's keynote speaker at the annual Jimmy Carter Lecture Series at Carl Albert State College. Nickles is scheduled to speak at 10:30 a.m. Friday, and a news conference and luncheon will follow his talk.
The lecture series' theme this year is "America's Hope for the Future: Excellence in and High Political Standards." The series began as the Hamilton Lecture Series in 1986. Former President Carter, who spoke at the last scheduled series, was impressed. Past speakers include former presidents George Bush and Gerald Ford.
