OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it's likely a record number of accidents were reported Sunday as heavy rains pelted the state and drivers returned from the Oklahoma-Texas football game.
The O-H-P reports about 80 calls for service were received on Sunday, many for accidents. The patrol normally receives about 15 to 20 calls every Sunday.
Trooper Pete Norwood says he's thankful there were no fatality accidents.
He says many drivers were driving too fast for the slick road conditions. He also says there were more drivers on the road compared to most weekends because so many people were returning from the O-U-Texas football game in Dallas.
