CARROLLTON, Texas (AP) -- A missing 3-year-old boy was found safe Saturday.

But his father, whom police say attacked his common-law wife with a large knife, remains at large.

A warrant for attempted murder is out on 29-year-old Carlos Humberto Alvarenga Senior.

Police aren't identifying the common-law wife but say she is pretty seriously injured and might have a broken neck. She is being treated at Parkland Memorial Hospital. A nurse at the hospital said he had no information about the patient.

The Texas Department of Public Safety had briefly issued an Amber Alert for 3-year-old Carlos Humberto Alvarenga Junior after the attack. He was found this afternoon alone but in good health at a McDonald's.

Police say his father's truck was in the parking lot, but he was nowhere to be found.
