A best-selling author invites Tulsa to "Eat, Pray and Love." That is the title of Elizabeth Gilbert's blockbuster memoir.
The book begins with Gilbert's self-described early onslaught mid-life crisis. Battling depression and juggling divorce lawyers, she decided to leave it all and ended up on a spiritual journey through Italy, India and Indonesia to find herself. The journey and the book have resonated with readers.
Elizabeth Gilbert has been on a cross-country whirlwind book tour, including a stop in Tulsa. "I don't know. I just didn’t have any sense, when I was writing it, as to whether it would be anything that anyone would relate to or care about," says Elizabeth Gilbert.
Not only do hundreds of readers care, but so does Hollywood. The book has been bought by Paramount Pictures for a feature film starring Julia Roberts.
