MIAMI (AP) _ Colts coach Tony Dungy calls him ``The Eraser.''
Safety Bob Sanders has rejuvenated a Colts defense that played poorly through the regular season. That's saying a lot considering the Colts made it to the Super Bowl despite finishing as the NFL's worst-ranked run defense.
Few considered the 5-foot-8 safety an NFL prospect, much less an impact player. Most colleges didn't even bother recruiting Sanders, who played both running back and safety in high school and idolized former Detroit Lions star Barry Sanders growing up.
After playing in only four regular-season games, the last two after having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in September, he gave the defense a new identity in the post-season.
