ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Vicente Padilla is staying with the Texas Rangers. The veteran pitcher agreed to a three-year deal that will pay him $33.75 million dollars. And the pact includes a $12 million club option for 2010. Padilla was 15-10 last season.

-- The Chicago Cubs are negotiating with free agent pitcher Jason Marquis. According to a person with knowledge of the talks, the two sides are looking at a three-year deal, worth around $20 million. Marquis was 14-16 last season with a 6.02 ERA for St. Louis. He was left off the roster for the final two rounds of the post-season after an ineffective 0-4 September.
