OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board has denied parole for a convicted killer who is serving two life prison sentences plus another 1,000 years behind bars.
Glen Burton Ake was originally given two death sentences for the murder of an Okarche minister and his wife 27 years ago. He appeared before the state Pardon and Parole Board last week by videoconference.
Ake was convicted of shooting to death the Reverend Richard Douglass and his wife, Marilyn, on October 15th, 1979. He also shot the Douglass children, who survived.
He was sentenced to death in both murders in a 1980 trial. In a 1986 retrial, jurors gave Ake two life sentences in the shootings.
An accomplice, Steven Keith Hatch, was put to death in 1996 for the slayings.
