TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A Tulsa man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on Interstate 244 in west Tulsa Monday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Larry Holmes was killed in the accident just before 7:45 AM.

Troopers say Holmes was northbound at a high rate of speed when he locked the rear brake while trying to take an exit ramp.

The bike then laid onto its side and Holmes was thrown about 40 feet into a tree.
