OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will join a nationwide program this weekend intended to reduce accidents and make roadways safer.

Lt. Pete Norwood said the OHP will join the Combined Accident Reduction Effort -- known as Operation CARE.

Norwood said troopers will be concentrating on stopping drivers who've been drinking and the OHP will have sobriety checkpoints across the state. He said some troopers will be assigned to DUI enforcement.

The increased enforcement effort runs Friday through Sunday.
