MILWAUKEE (AP) _ A man convicted of murder in Oklahoma who was mistakenly released from jail in Milwaukee has been recaptured in Texas.
A spokeswoman for the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department says Cesar Lira was arrested Monday night at a motel in San Antonio.
Lira was convicted of second-degree murder and child neglect in Oklahoma for the death of his girlfriend and injuries to their daughter when the car he was driving crashed as he led police on a high speed chase on I-44 near Bristow.
He was sentenced to 20-years in prison and was sent to Milwaukee in May to face escape charges. Lira had escaped the day before the Oklahoma crash.
He was released after relatives posted $15,000 bail because authorities apparently didn't know he was a convicted killer.
