There are new developments involving the abuse of a 4 year old Braggs boy.

A January 4th preliminary hearing has been scheduled for the boy's mother Melanie Smith and her husband and half brother Roy.

Investigators say the child's parents starved, beat and abused him, to make him look mentally unbalanced, so they could collect social security benefits.

The child's aunt, Sharon Smith and her daughter Brenna Smith also face child neglect charges in this case.They have already been bound over for trial.
