OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A murder-suicide in which a 16-year-old Ada girl was killed has prompted a state senator to study whether stronger laws could have prevented the tragedy.

The bodies of Caitlin Wooten[pictured] and 47-year-old Jerry Savage were found Saturday. Authorities believe Savage abducted Wooten from Ada High School Friday afternoon, shot the girl and then killed himself.

State Senator Susan Paddack of Ada says residents want to make sure similar tragedies never happen again.

Savage was released on bond from the Pontotoc County jail last month after prosecutors say he kidnapped Caitlin's mother and threatened to kill her.

Paddack says she plans to examine how bond amounts are set and whether defendants can be screened to determine if they're a threat to society.
