TULSA, Okla. (AP) Kurt Suzuki's three-run homer keyed a six-run ninth inning that put Midland ahead for good in a 15-to-10 win over Tulsa in Texas League play.
The RockHounds (1-0) and the Drillers (0-1) were tied 9-to-9 when Brian Stavisky's RBI moved Midland ahead 10-to-9. Suzuki doubled in Stavisky, Vasili Spanos and Travis Buck for a 13-to-9 advantage and Suzuki scored when Kevin Melillo hit a two-run home run for the final margin.
The Drillers rallied in the bottom half of the inning but only for one run -- a sacrifice fly from Jud Thigpen that scored Jordan Gaetti.
Anthony Rawson (1-2) got the win, allowing four hits and one run in one inning of relief.
Josh Newman (4-2) suffered the loss, allowing two hits and three runs in two-thirds of an inning of relief.
