Spring severe storms return to the forecast.
We are looking at storm chances Tuesday into the night and Wednesday morning.
Tuesday evening isolated severe storms are expected in western Oklahoma. These storms will be capable of large hail, damaging winds, and will pose a low tornado threat.
Through the overnight, more widespread thunderstorms are expected. We may see a few waves of storms across the state at night.
Hail up to the size of golf balls and damaging winds will be the main concern, but there will be a low tornado threat as well.
Wednesday morning scattered thunderstorms are possible, especially along central and northern Oklahoma.
The surface low will move right across the state on Wednesday afternoon.
There will be a window from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday for very strong severe storms. The threat will be baseball size hail, damaging winds to 70 mph, and a low tornado threat.
The exact timing and track of the low Wednesday will be key to just how unstable we get, and where. As of now, the highest threat will be southern and southeastern Oklahoma.
If the low were to track farther north, the OKC metro could see stronger storms.
Our team of tracker’s will bring you updates from the field starting Tuesday afternoon.
