One person was detained Thursday after a police chase ended near downtown Oklahoma City.
The chase weaved through parts of northwest and southwest Oklahoma City before the driver, identified as 27-year-old Maria Violet Castro, tried to go north on Western Avenue.
Castro tried to ditch the vehicle on Western Avenue just north of Interstate 40.
Police officers were able to tackle her near SW 3rd and Western Avenue.
Officers tried to pull over the vehicle near NW 39th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
Police said speeds reached up to 90 mph, Castro threw a knife out of the vehicle during the chase and she spoke with 911 dispatchers while on the run.
It is unclear why the chase was initiated.
Authorities said she was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and is facing traffic charges and a complaint of felony attempting to elude.
