The Sooner state has a new slogan – "Imagine That."
Gov. Kevin Stitt and Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell unveiled the new brand Wednesday during a program at the Oklahoma City Thunder headquarters at the Chesapeake Arena.
“Everyone who grew up in Oklahoma heard Oklahoma is OK. Well, That wasn’t OK with me,” Stitt said.
More than 140 volunteers from across the state participated in the project. The project started less than a year ago and was spearheaded by Pinnell.
Those behind the slogan said Imagine That conveys the idea that there are so many surprising things about Oklahoma that people both inside and outside of the state don’t know about.
Whitney Emmerick, a communications director by trade, said capturing that idea in a phrase was the challenge.
“If you’re a company looking to relocate, a tourist or an Oklahoman and you’re wanting to plan a day vacationing to another parts of the state, I have to be able to fire up that imagination to where you’re going to want to do that. And so, Imagine That was the shortest, most incredible slogan we could come up with that hadn’t already been tagged by another state,” she said.
Over the next few months, the brand will be seen on state welcome signs, agency websites and other tourism related products.
