Pottawatomie Co. DA Investigating Dark Money Targeting State Senator

The Pottawatomie County district attorney’s office is investigating a case of apparent dark money and possible felony fraud targeting a state senator.

The office is investigating campaign mailers, probably a hundred thousand dollars worth of them, slamming state Sen. Ron Sharp, R-Shawnee.

They’re paid for by the Oklahoma Conservative Project LLC. The problem is, they don't seem to exist.

The fliers and calls claim to be paid for by the Oklahoma Conservative Project LLC, but no such LLC is listed with the Secretary of State’s office or the state Ethics Commission. So, this appears to be a case of felony elections and mail fraud.

Oklahoma Conservative Project LLC lists an office address of 3030 Northwest Expressway suite 200. We went there with cameras rolling. A receptionist there said she’s never heard of the company and it doesn’t reside there.

“We’re trying to track this back to the source to see who is behind the false information going out, alleging that they are this LLC that does not exist,” Pottawatomie County District Attorney Allan Grubb said.

The point is someone is writing big checks to pay for these mailers and robocalls; someone who wants to remain anonymous.

“And they want me out under any circumstances,” Sharp said.
