Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers said one person is dead after a crash on an all-terrain (ATV) vehicle, Monday night in Garfield County.

Troopers said the crash took place around 10 p.m. when the driver approached the intersection of Hobart Road and Blaine Road.

The driver, identified at 43-year-old Kelly Burton, got distracted by something the passenger said and looked over his shoulder. When he looked back at the road, he attempted to take a slow turn but left the roadway, according to the OHP report.

The passenger, 40-year-old Shannon Kirkhart was pronounced dead at the scene due to trunk internal injuries from the crash. She was taken to the medical examiners officer, troopers said.

Burton was not injured.

The OHP report said neither Burton or Kirkhard were wearing helmets.

This is a developing story.
