A massive dust plume from the Sahara Desert is making its way to the United States.

This massive dust plume has made a 5,000 mile journey across the Atlantic, Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and now its making its way into the U.S.

The dust is expected to arrive in Oklahoma Friday through early Saturday, but it is not going to be a true dust storm.

The biggest changes you'll probably notice are hazy skies and possibly a colorful sunrise or sunset.

Summer dust plumes are common but experts say one this large hasn't been seen in 50 years.

On satellite images from space dust typically appears somewhat subtle and faint, but this plume can be seen clear as day.

The dust is forecasted to hook back eastward over the Southeast and Tennessee valley area later this weekend.
