A Norman councilperson says her neighbor was the victim of a sexual assault but she was the intended target.
Alex Scott posted a statement on social media Saturday night saying her neighbor was raped after her address was leaked online. She believes the attacker intended to assault her instead.
"We live in a duplex, she was raped by stranger who broke into her side of our duplex last night. She had been out with her father, he dropped her off around Midnight and left. Then she was assaulted in her hallway. Her rapist dug his elbow into her neck, pushed her into the wall, and told her 'Maybe next time you'll learn your lesson.' He threw her on the ground and raped her." Scott wrote on Facebook.
The group "Norman Citizens for Racial Justice" is demanding the OSBI take over the investigation saying a Norman police officer was the one who leaked Scott's address.
Norman police have denied this claim.
Scott has received criticism for her suggested cuts to the Norman Police Department's budget. Overnight News 9 reached out to both Norman Police and Scott for comment.
