The Department of Public Safety will begin issuing the first REAL ID’s to the public at select locations, Monday.
The DPS said it’s not issuing REAL IDs at every location. You can get a Real ID at the office near Northeast 36th Street and and North Martin Luther King Avenue in Oklahoma City or at the office in Downtown Edmond near North Broadway and East Main Street.
Also happening Monday, tge DPS said equipment is being installed at two Edmond tag agencies so they can issue REAL ID’s as part of a pilot program.

The DPS said it’s best to make an appointment, but it is accepting walk-ins.
The department wants people to wear masks inside of the building and know the number of people inside will be limited.
If you go on Monday, the DPS wants you to know you will not walk out with a new ID. Instead, you’ll get a temporary paper driver’s license and you should get your REAL ID in about 7-10 business days.
The Department said lines are expected to be long, so if your license isn’t expiring soon, you should wait a bit before getting one.
The federal deadline for REAL ID has been pushed back to October 1, 2021. After that, you’ll need one to fly or enter federal buildings.
