Norman Ward 5 City Councilwoman Sereta Wilson has announced she will be officially resigning her seat, ending August 11th.

The councilwoman says the main reasoning she's resigning is due to her home being relocated into Ward 4.

Wilson was one of four city council members named in a recall effort organized by the group Unite Norman, after growing tensions with "defunding" the Norman Police Department and mask mandates.

In a post on social media, Wilson said in part quote:

"The timing of this comes on the heels of some folks in the community trying to undo me, my businesses, my existence as a city council member. And part of my ego wants to be stubborn and just gut it all out. But, If this year has taught me anything it’s that I have to do what’s right for my family. And quite honestly for my mental health."
