The Edmond City Council will be meeting to possibly change the mask mandate put in place last week.

The ordinance passed by a narrow margin of 3 to 2, but because the emergency vote did not pass, the masks won't be required in Edmond until August 26, instead of taking effect immediately.

The mandate is only scheduled to last about two weeks until September 8.

Edmond's mask ordinance will be like the one in place in Oklahoma City. However, the few differences include no exceptions for indoor religious services and there is no fee as a possible punishment.

The public will have a chance to comment at Monday's meeting.

Last week before the vote was confirmed, many residents in Edmond's City Council meeting got passionate over the issue.
