Many Oklahoma high school football teams are starting fall practices Monday morning, even as some districts are choosing to transition to distance learning because of the pandemic.

Football practice will get started around 6 a.m. at the Allan Trimble Stadium.

The OSSAA declared Monday as the first day of limited practices, so many other schools will also be hitting the field.

Jenks head football coach, Keith Riggs, said they’re taking several COVID-related precautions to keep these players safe. He says athletes are required to complete a health checklist before playing and undergo temperature checks every morning. Masks will also be worn anytime coaches and players are indoors.

In Bixby, players practiced early Monday morning and will continue this afternoon. Coach Loren Montgomery says players are undergoing temperature checks each day and they're required to do a daily health checklist. The team is also doing frequent sanitizing before and after practice.

In addition Coach Montgomery says the locker rooms are closed for now and players and coaches are required to wear masks inside.
