New technology will help investigators across the state identify bodies during crime investigations.
The OBSI recently received 11 evolution mobile ID scanners.
Investigators use the handheld device to scan the fingerprints of an unidentified person. That fingerprint is then processed through state and federal databases. Investigators said results are returned in minutes.
“I think our folks are very excited about the possibility to speed up justice for families and to identify victims quicker,” Brook Arbeitman from the OSBI said.
Investigators said they used the device to identify a woman found in Ottawa County last month.
