University of Oklahoma students will head back to class Monday, after the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in one of the residence halls over the weekend.
In its Safe and Resilient plan, OU said classes with 40 students or fewer can still be held in-person. If the class has more than 40 students, and social distancing isn’t practical, that class will be moved online.
The university said it added new and smaller in-person sections to many of the classes, to ensure students still get personal face-to-face time.
OU also added more time in between classes. Instead of 10 minute breaks, the university extended breaks to 30 minutes, to ensure everyone has time to get out of the building while still social distancing.
Over the weekend, the university announced one student inside the dorms tested positive for COVID-19. OU said that student is now in self-isolation and contact tracing is underway.
In a statement, OU said it’s developing an online COVID-19 dashboard which is set to launch sometime this week.
