A student-athlete at Sequoyah Middle School in Edmond tested positive for COVID-19, the district said Tuesday.

The student will be in isolation for 10 days and has not been at the school since Friday. About 21 students have been placed under a 14-day quarantine, school officials said.

Due to the case, all 8th grade football practices are canceled and the 8th grade football game between Sequoyah and Summit middle schools has been postponed. It was originally scheduled to be played Sept. 1.

The 8th grade football game against Cimarron Middle School has also been postponed. It was originally scheduled for Sept. 8.

School officials said the football locker room has been disinfected using electrostatic machines and the district treated the air in the locker room with an ozone machine.

All classrooms are disinfected nightly by the custodial crew.
