Two new big construction projects will impact drivers near Tinker Air Force Base and Will Rogers World Airport.
The projects will start Tuesday and will affect drivers on Interstate 40 and Interstate 44.
Off I-40 near Sunnylane Road to Hudiburg Drive, drivers will see eastbound traffic narrowed to two lanes during the day. This will start at 7 a.m. on Tuesday. ODOT says the project will be narrowed down to one lane at night.
The bridge reconstructions are expected to take about 2 years.
Drivers can also expect ramp closures at differing times during this project.
Drivers on I-44, just south of I-40 near Will Rogers World Airport will see reduced speed limits starting Tuesday. This is due to road and bridge repairs and will continue through 2021.
Lane and ramp closures for the I-44 project will be announced when they are scheduled. ODOT says drivers traveling to the airport that direction need to leave early.
"The main thing you are going to see on the I-44 corridor is that there will be a lot smoother pavement through there. Nothing is really going to look different, we are just trying to clean things up," says Rick Howland, an ODOT Engineer.
These projects will target and remove 10 structurally deficient bridges, for a total price tag of around $108 million.
