If you’ve been looking forward to fair food, you can get all of your favorites this week at the Tulsa County fairgrounds.
“Definitely chicken on a stick. I mean they have turkey legs. I’m going to try the cheese on a stick. I’m sure that’s great. The strawberry limeade is very good," said Aubrie Barnhart.
Food vendors from across Oklahoma, surrounding states, and even the Tulsa area are next to the livestock barns.
“We were asked to come do this one and we just felt like it was a real honor that we were asked to come do this one out of all the vendors that they have," said Barbara Pinkerton.
If you’ve been to the Tulsa State Fair in the last 20 years, you’ve probably seen Barbara and Gary Pinkerton. They own Gary’s Fun Food Concessions.
“People will come up to our trailer and they’ll ride the sky ride and look for our trailer and go oh I’ve been looking for that cheesecake and they just love once a year to get their cheesecake," said Barbara Pinkerton.
Pinkerton said in a typical year she and her husband pack the trailer full and drive around the state selling food to people at different events and festivals, but because of the pandemic, this is the first time their trailer has been out since last year's Tulsa State Fair.
“We travel all summer and we do other shows and other festivals and other fairs within Oklahoma. This is the first time since last October that we’ve had our trailer our because all of our events are cancelled," said Pinkerton.
Even though Tulsa’s State Fair isn’t happening, there are still plenty of junior livestock shows and enough fried food fill your cravings.
“I think I’m going to have a chicken on a stick. That’s my all time favorite," said Barnhart.
