Man Killed In Crash Involving Semi On I-35 Near Purcell

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said one person involved in an injury accident with a semi Friday has died of his injuries.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Interstate 35 southbound at mile marker 91 at the Purcell city limits where a jeep and a semi-truck collided.

According to OHP, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by 56-year-old Antonio D. Retana swerved to avoid upcoming traffic and was struck from behind by a semi driven by 47-year-old Jaime Weiselogel .

Retana was pinned inside of his vehicle and eventually freed by the Purcell Fire Department.

Weiselogel was not injured in the accident.

Retana was taken in a medical helicopter to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
